Dev Deepawali festival organised by the Ganga Seva Nidhi at Dashashmedh Ghat on November 13 was dedicated to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Bharat Mata. It was combination of spiritualism and patriotism at the ghat of Varanasi with the creation of a beautiful replica of India Gate and Amar Javaan Jyoti.
The function began with the showering of rose petals in honour of martyrs by the helicopter. The officers of Indian Army, Navy and Air force paid floral tributes to the martyrs. It was followed by a culture programme. Thousands of people witnessed the incredible maha aarti and deepdaan.
Millions of wick’s lamps were lit on the steps of ghats. Dancing lamps on holy water of Ganges welcomed the Gods and Goddesses decending on the sacred land of Kashi-Anand Van, the permanent abode of Lord Shiva.
Dev Deepawali is celebrated on full moon day of Kartik with great enthusiasm and gaiety.
